I still enjoy watching this video, as this was the most enjoyable to make, despite the endless hours of squinting at the screen masking around jean folds and heads. I picked up a lot about mixing masking with effects and various layers, it was quite a quick video to make also. I set the video to record hours and hours of various music channels so I could get a good range of music videos, from Indie to R&B and pop. The music was essential to this video for the pace of it and image it brought across.
The brief stated that sound was optional as the work would be being shown in crowded Student Union bars, however I chose to have music, so I carefully picked loud explosive music to catch the attention of the crowd and also to fit the images moving on screen. Also due to the audience being of varying taste I decided to add a feature for those who do not know much of extreme sports, this feature was to show the crashes of the riders, I researched snowboard and skateboarding sites to double check the varying names for the crashes.
This is the only piece in this group of work that keeps the original look that I had laid out. I decided that because the other two pieces of work had been predominantly video and had inadvertently swung towards a particular style, I would keep this predominantly graphic based. I kept the colours as they were because I felt it portrayed the style of the whole celeb glam, plus I felt it would be the best look for attracting the attention of the celeb gossip and style fans.
University project 2005
This brief was originally a D & AD brief, however I did not do the brief for the competition, I had to create 3 idents for Subtv showing the categories: Music, Sports and Film. The pieces would be for showing in Student Unions throughout the country. I customised the brief so that it would fit in with the time schedule I had been given, by lifting the restrictions on copyright material.
